Nikolai Studenikin


Nikolai Studenikin, born in 1992 in Simferopol, Crimea, is an award-winning concert guitarist. He began his musical education at Gnessins College in Moscow in the class of Anastasia Bardina. In the following years, he continued his studies at the HfMT Cologne/Aachen with Prof. Hans-Werner Huppertz and completed both his Bachelor's degree in 2019 and his Master's degree in 2022 with distinction.

He received further artistic inspiration at masterclasses from Marcin Dylla, Scott Tennant and Roman Viazovskiy, among others. He has won prizes at renowned competitions, including 1st prize in the "Guitar Plus" competition at the Twents Guitar Festival in Holland and 2nd prize at the international guitar competition in Veria, Greece. He was awarded the DAAD Prize by the HfMT Cologne for his artistic and social commitment.

He regularly performs as a soloist and collaborates with various chamber music ensembles, including soprano Franziska Groß and guitarist Vladislav Fedorov.

Nikolai Studenikin is also a passionate teacher and currently teaches at the youth music school in Heinsberg and at the music school of the city of Aachen. During his master's degree, he worked as a student assistant for Prof. Hans-Werner Huppertz's guitar class at the Cologne University of Music.

Since December 2018, Nikolai Studenikin and his partner Franziska Groß have formed the Duo Studenikin. They perform with a wide-ranging program as both a guitar-violin duo and a guitar-vocal duo at private and public events, and regularly organize their own concerts.

Nikolai Studenikin and Vladislav Fedorov have known each other since their time studying in Moscow and have been performing successfully as a guitar duo for several years now. They are currently studying for a Master's degree in Chamber Music as a duo under the guidance of Prof. Hans-Werner Huppertz at the HfMT Cologne | Aachen. Their program is diverse and includes both original works for classical guitar duo as well as transcriptions for this instrumentation.
